Why an Undead Paladin Makes Sense

Even before class changes were announced, I had questioned why the undead (Forsaken) can’t be paladins.  Many of the bravest paladins fell to the Lich King and thus could be reborn as a Forsaken.  Though the light may have left these people for a short time, I don’t think it would be too big of a leap to suggest that they could find the light again.

    Undead Paladin

With regards to the Light leaving the Forsaken, this can be refuted with the following points.

    – Where do Holy and Discipline Forsaken priests get their skills from?  That’s right… the light.  It’s not like all Forsaken priests are shadow priests.

    – A’dal has the power to grant protection from the light and the source of power that paladins use (see Lady Liadrin and the Blood Knights)

    – Sir Zeliek, a member of The Four Horseman, was a paladin in life and still commands the power of the light in his undeath.  From WoWWiki, “According to Commander Eligor Dawnbringer‘s lecture in Wintergarde Keep, Zeliek is, “so strong in his faith, that even in undeath, the power of the light still heeds his call, smiting his foes in battle.”  Now explain to me why there aren’t some Forsaken paladins out there for me Blizzard.

I’m really hoping someone from Blizzard reads this can can explain to me why Forsaken paladins weren’t added to the new Cataclysm race/class combos.

    What are your thoughts?

Actually, undead priests don’t. They wield ‘The Forgotten Shadow’ or whatever the crap religion they’ve made for themselves.

      You are crazy! :p
Undead is associated with death, paladins with life. IMO thats it, and thats why they wont do it.

Hes right, lorewise forsaken priests are shadow priests because they can’t control the light, it burns :O but the ingame mechanics allow them to become holy/discipline priests

It makes sense for Undead to become Paladins. Forsaken are risen from past classes.
Also Undead are Hunters already…animals would maul their bones.
And Tauren are Paladins..that makes no sense. they just added a lame sun story.
Every race should be able to be anything. imo.

UNDEAD PALADINS FTW!!! DO IT BLIZZ AND I WILL LOVE YOU

The light would not come to all people as some great revelation like Thrall had, but people would have to seek the light and find those who knew how the light worked. People who taught how to become in tune with the light were many-ringed guilds and leagues that trained warriors of the light.

Being a paladin lore-wise means you pertain to a greater force of paladins that have a hierarchy system, with Tirion Fordring on top. Often you have some tenets of paladins sects who go to extremist lengths like the Scarlet Crusade. Because Paladin lore is heavily fixated and specifically caught up in fighting the undead scourge, it is probable that reservations against the undead would be too great to ever relent to them being bearers of the light. The higher paladin hierarchy would disallow it. Though not as crazy as the Scarlet Crusade; paladins would not be that politically correct, they are grizzled veterans of unspeakable horrors; remember this is still a worn torn world with prejudices and grudges, not some modern liberal society in the real world that would allow any race to practice sacred things.

Undead have priests because of the shadow aspect, to where priests could have turned from the light and then proselyte shadow doctrine to their undead brethren. Paladin’s have no aspects of darkness in their lore, and so they would withhold the sacred ways of the paladin from the undead. Plus Sylvanas would undoubtedly disallow paladins as part of her people, because of her grudges and her further attempts to spread the scourge.

If you can be an Undead Holy Priest then why not Paladins?

Let’s not forget that Undead were once Humans, and Humans can be Paladins
