Hey Rushlinger, nice to hear from you! Thank you for the lovely comments :)

As for Facebook comments, I’m obviously the last person to be able to answer your question regarding errors, but you can listen download the podcast through iTunes and the Zune marketplace as well.

And last but not least, for the alliance indeed.

Heroic Deadmines without any time paradox:

The nobles of Stormwind hire the Stonemasons Guild to fix the damage that Deathwing causes to the city at the start of Cataclysm, then refuse to pay them again.

VanCleef says, wtf man. underground pirate time.

    Hi guys,

    Great podcast again.
Firstly meant to put this in the last podcast but this one came along so fast I thought I would put it in here. In regards to the person who commented in the WoW forums about paying $30 per month for WoW and $80 for the Xpac, you ever think that he be from another country. I’m a New Zealander and I pay anywhere from NZD$20 – NZD$30 for my subscription, depending on the exchange rate and how bad Americans are screwing up you economy. j/k… kinda. :)
Secondly I love the Evinrue spots and her knowlodge of the lore, but in regards to heroic DM and SFK. Since when have heroics ever been about the lore. Heroics are about the greater challenge and bigger loot. Well for me anyway.

Oh well that’s all. Keep up the great work.

Talitha: Great idea, and I was foolishly thinking about how they would fit into “now” and you are perfectly correct in the assumption that Stormwind is going to have massive damage after Deathwing’s return. (Exhibit A: The Park) However the heroes of the Alliance have been cutting off Van Cleef’s head since day 1, so a second rebuilding of the City would be rather difficult for him I’d imagine. But the idea is solid, and an intriguing notion that the nobles of Stormwind would make that mistake a second time. I wouldn’t put it past them, especially with the rumors of many nobles taking issue with King Wrynn.

Arhain: Thank you very much! The mechanic of heroics themselves are aimed to challenging players and giving “phat lootz” but lore is very much still a core to why we see particular instances and what we’re changing in the world by running them. And so the issue is not with having heroics of these particular instances, but in the fact that bringing them back after so many years breaks the timeline (what timeline we tenuously have in Azeroth. *coughOnxyiacough*)

We’ll look at aforementioned Deadmines as example, because that instance is an extension of the quest lines in Westfall. It fits well into that story and indeed, leads to the next set of quests and instance (Stockades.) However as the game has progressed and as time as moved forward we find these story lines come to fruition and then pass away into more of the game. Time has clearly marched on in regards to Deadmines because the characters involved have moved on as well. Northrend level Alliance receive the quest “Report to Gryan Stoutmantle… Again.” In the quest text, it talks about the situation in Westfall being pacified so that the Militia (previously preoccupied with the Defias) are no longer so and can engage in other activities for the Kingdom of Stormwind.

But looking at it nostalgically, Heroic Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep is a brilliant move on the part of Blizzard to bring back the “classic” world feel. Often times these instances were the first challenging encounters for players and the determining factor if players go back and roll a different avatar. It is a shame that they’re not being included, but to me, the effort of the level designers should be more focused in devoting this expansion to moving the story past Warcraft 3, past Lich King, and into something we haven’t seen yet in Azeroth.

Thank you for the information! I went to Audible.com and did not see this credit under my account information. So I talked with an Audible representative through their “live chat” feature and I found the issue was that I did not load in any billing information. Good news in the end, I did not only get this Stormrage audiobook for free but also an additional credit for another free audiobook due to my complications. Thank you Wowphiles for this and providing the WoW community with such great information, news, and insider tips through your podcast. Keep up the great work! Thanks again.

Evinrue I did download the app to the 2nd to none podcast ( wowphiles ) to listen to however I have not been able to listen to 5 -14 due to a domain error. I think when Jason deleted the recorded shows that it made the error. There for the error copied down on to the app. That’s just my theory.

Question for Jason and Modem what is the easiest title to get and how many titles are there in the game?

As you already know I’m still new to world of Warcraft. I am a high lvl but why is it that when you go up to a low lvl and ask a question they look at you or talk or type to you like you should already know?

    Subjected subject: acount safty.

Resentlt I have had a whisper about that ” we have just been informed that your information in you account has an informations error go to http://www.battle-acount.net to rely your information”. Now I’ve got that whisper 4 times in the last month I’ve reported it to spam. The real question is how do I get it to stop is there any other way of repoting them because I’m not slow cause I’ve called blizzard about this and the guy told me that blizzard wouldn’t contact like that. And I got one today and gottin the same whisperand reported it. And I do have an authenticater what other action do I take?

    Thank you

    Hi Guys…another great show.

I was out of the WoW news loop for a week while on vacation, and I was a bit disappointed to hear about the loss of the Path of the Titans in Cataclysm. I was interested in the concept, since it reminded of that post I had written on the WoW Suggestion forum. Basically, I think the idea is still valid, and I really think it’s doable, but I understand from a project management perspective, an expansion is a huge deal and the important important thing for an expansion is to NOT BREAK THE GAME.

This is what happens when you read smartphone reviews, and then switch to WoWphiles: I read “We start off with the new Caverns of Time: War of the Ancients raid.”

Only what I saw was We start off with the new “Caverns of Time: War of the Androids raid.”

I am reasonably sure there won’t be any androids in Caverns of Time.

I just got through Stormrage…it was disappointing, to say the least. The lore information was great, but I was thoroughly un-impressed with Knaack’s writing. I’ve read tons of sci-fi and fantasy from Jordan to Weber to Assimov to Tolkien, and Knaack’s style was less than pleasing. The lore addition was outstanding, but even there, it was less than satisfying. I would really love for Blizzard to publish a encyclopedia like they did for Halo.

Hiruu: Exactly, there’s obviously more to say about Stormrage, but the overall consensus is “blah.” Knaak is hard to get through, and the gentlemen who did the audio recording wasn’t up to par either, and I feel that they should have given the story to another author, despite Knaak’s history with writing the night elves (War of the Ancients)

From a personal standpoint, I wanted Stormrage to be legen – wait for it… DARY! – Druid lore is what got me into lore in the first place. Malfurion Stormrage, Cenarius, all of that – they’re the reason my main is a druid (and continues to be to this day.) Unfortunately Stormrage didn’t deliver what I wanted to see.

    Hey guys, great podcast!
One of my views on Cataclysm is that it will not be as good as Wotlk. My reasoning is that it took 3 expansions to build up the story of how the lich king got there and his history.
    Vanilla Wow- Explained the Scourge
BC- Explained how the scourge got there and who the real leader is
Wotlk- Explained history of scourge and lich king, also defeated the Lich king
All in all Cataclysm will not be able to do all that in one expansion and in only 5 levels (if you are already).

@Slam… actually the entire LK story is described in warcraft 3 more so than WoW. In fact WoW has just been following the aftermath of warcraft 3 since the start… so this is the first time the world is sort of moving forward… or backward depending on how you look at it.

Really though both expansions have just been tying up lose ends from WC3. Compared to Vanilla which actually had quite a few new story lines going but stopped short when BC was released. It is nice to finally see those progressing.

    @whats my main again
this just proves my point even more, it took warcraft three to get it all started and took 3 games to finish it. There was no precedent for Cata, it has just arrived with no real story behind it.

Shrug… it took 6 years to finally get to a new storyline… I for one am excited about moving on.

Also Deathwing’s story goes way back… and unlike Arthas… the reason we are going to want to kill deathwing will be obvious when he destroy’s half of azeroth. Other than the original naxx… and the pre wotlk event… there was little in wow to prompt an all out invasion to northrend to kill Arthas. Illidan was the same way.

But onyxia, BWL, all of these were just tastes of what was to come when deathwing returned. So this is the first progression of the original wow content that didn’t involve killing off WC3 heroes.
