Hey guys, again awesome pod cast! I’ve never liked the idea of a GDKP system it seems very dodgey IMO, too easy for someone to take yo cash! Question, one of my guild members braught up a good thought the other day. In the Lich King fight when you get him to phase “3″ and he one shots you all, does this mean that he was just toying with us all along? And really its Tirion who breaks frotmourne and is the Hero and we were just ‘there’.

I’m sure the boys will discuss this further, but during the Lich King encounter Arthas kills the raid at 10%. It’s an ability called “Fury of Frostmourne” and based on Arthas’s later speech one might infer that yes, he is toying/testing you, that you and your companions have been chosen worthy enough to become his champions. This is when Tirion decides he doesn’t want to be a Paladin Popsicle anymore and lol!rocks the Lich King, destroying Frostmourne. The spirits slain and stolen by Frostmourne then pour out to aid Highlord Fordring, and the raid is rezzed by the ghost of Terenas Menethil II just in time for a good ol fashioned a$& stomping :D

  • Frostnut

haha yeah that makes sence. I can see the Lich King testing rather than toying with worthy fighters to join him. Just like most paladins Tirion face rolls keyboard and wins! :D

    That’s pretty much how I play…faceroll and win…lol

Hey Jason, Modem, and Evinrue. I have recently dinged 68!(w00t) and I havnt played since classic WoW, I came back about a month ago. I was just wondering if any of you guys had any advice about Northrend.

    Your beloved Northrend Newb

  • Arrowtipz

Evinrue! are you back now!?! (don’t tell Modem but your lore is way better) For the Alliance!

  • http://wowphiles.com Jason Zimmerman

Hey Arrow, Grats on 68!My advice, is to start in Howling Fjord, then go to Borean Tundra, then into Dragonblight and do all the quests you possibly can along the way. That’s my preferred method for starting Northrend. You can mix in some instances if you like, but the XP you get just from questing is really nice. Plus if you haven’t been there before there are some really cool quest lines.Good Luck!

  • Arrowtipz

I forgot to mention I’m alliance side. Does your advice still apply?

  • http://wowphiles.com Jason Zimmerman

Hmm, I would think that overall that the advice should still hold up for Alliance as well. But maybe another Alliance player or Evinrue or Icesnake can comment on their process of leveling in Northrend.

  • http://twitter.com/Evinrue Evinrue

It’ll be pretty much the same. In terms of leveling/questing, Howling Fjord is more or less a smaller zone, meaning less travel time overall and you will quickly get your first dungeon quests in Utguard Keep. I would recommend most of your time in this zone, which, if you start at level 68 will put you about to level 70/71.

At this point, whereas this silly Loremaster is ready and anxious to get into Dragonblight, I would say players new to Wrath should take a trip to Borean Tundra at least for a few key quest lines. The important ones to look for in Borean Tundra alliance side are going to be Thassarian’s chain starting from “Word on the Street” in Valiance Keep as well the Coldarra quests starting from the Amber Ledge on the most western part of the map. Thassarian’s questlines are always cool, from the Death Knight starting area all the way to Icecrown, and he’s an important character to familiarize with. Similarly, the Red Dragons/Wyrmrest Accord are introduced to players via their conflict with Malygos in the Coldarra, which is a theme that later persists through questing in Dragonblight.

Dragonblight quests will open up at 72, and you should stick around that zone until the game gives you the achievement [Veteran of the Wrathgate.] Congratulations, you have now successfully completed arguably the most memorable quest chain in the game.

If you have further questions don’t hesitate to ask!

  • Arrowtipz

Hey Jason and Evinrue I dinged 69 last night in under an hour in the Howling Fjord so thanks for the advice!

  • UT4l1f3

Hey bros I was thinkin bout switchin horde cuz all da peeps alliance side are winny babies and children! yall know any good horde servers? never been horde so any tips bro?

  • Crashingphoenix

hey guys i just got an 80 2 days ago and i am very exited for my daily grind :P so far i am loving it…. PS Arrowtipz just take it slow…. thats pretty much it….. honastly it is more like old kingdom than BC but you will have to fight in your own way play till you get your nich…. anyway love the show and me love you long time :)

  • http://wowphiles.com Jason Zimmerman

I’m not sure exactly which servers are better for the Horde because it depends what you are looking for. You can check Warcraftrealms.com for some stats (though they aren’t as updated as they used to be)

You can check Timeuntilwintergrasp.com to see how the Horde does in WG to gauge the server population. And finally you can also check out Wowprogress.com to see which servers have the most progressing guilds in raids.

    Hope this helps!

Grats on 80! Thanks for listening to the show. Spread the love and tell all your friends and guildies about us :)

  • Frostnut

I’ve found with my toons that for alliance going to Borean Tundra first is the best, doing all the quests then heading to Howling Fjord (which you could probably skip unless you head into northrend at about 68) then Grizzly Hills, Sholzar Basin and then Icecrown should get you to 80. If your dps then consistantly queing for dungeons is also good as it mixes up the questing a bit and que times are long so it wont interupt your questing

  • Arrowtipz

Hey guys I’m in a fun guild and I’ve made quite a few friends but we don’t raid. A while ago my friend left for a raiding guild and at 80 I really want to raid besides pugs. But I don’t wanna leave all my friends behind. I can’t make up my mind! Please discuss next show because I feel you both might have interesting points of view. p.s. When’s the next show?

  • Arrowtipz

I forgot my friend has invited me to his new guild. Sparking the decision

  • http://wowphiles.com Jason Zimmerman

Hey Arrow, that’s a good topic I’d like to get to. I’ll add that to show notes for episode 42. I was faced with a somewhat similar dilemma during Burning Crusade days. I ended up staying in my guild–sort of regret it now. I’ll explain more on the show.
