Zalazane Must Fall: The Fight For Echo Isles

I got to experience Zalazane’s Fall on Echo Isles for the first time last night and have a few thoughts to share on the quest line.

A lot people had commented on how short this quest line, and the Gnome equivalent are. At first I expected the quest to take me all over and have me doing a lot of different things to prepare to kill Zalazane. But it actually turns out to be nice that Zalazane’s Fall it is a shorter quest line. The quest line is fun without being a burden on players and introduces some of the things we are going to see in Cataclysm regarding the trolls.

Something I didn’t expect in the Zalazane’s Fall quest was the introduction of the Troll Druids. We get to find out there were Troll Druids in hiding on Echo Isles and now they have finally revealed themselves to us. This sets up the emergence of Troll Druids in Cataclysm very nicely and weaves them into the story and lore of Warcraft.

Finally we get to kill Zalazane and take back Echo Isles for the Darkspear Trolls and prepare for the new Troll home on Echo Isles in Cataclysm.

The final piece of the quest plays very similar to The Battle for Undercity. This was a fun way to experience killing Zalazane and taking back the Echo Islands. I wasn’t expecting it to play like it did; I expected more of a boss fight with a party of players, but in the end, I’m happy with how it played out.

Overall, I thought the experience of Zalazane’s Fall and the fight to take back Echo Isles was enjoyable and it was a nice way to set up some of the upcoming changes in Cataclysm. While the experience didn’t blow me away like Wrathgate or The Battle For Undercity, it was still fun and worth doing.
