The Shattering Event Information; But No Date Yet.
We are starting to get some more information regarding The Shattering event that is going to rock Azeroth. Unfortunately we don’t have any specific date but it has to be very soon.
As of this coming Tuesday we will be 5 weeks away from the release of Cataclysm. Blizzard is going to want to give us enough time to experience The Shattering before the Cataclysm release. In my estimation 3 weeks would be the…

Icesnake’s Add-on Emporium #35: Starting Over
As I write this, it has now been almost a week since patch 4.0.1 went live. Anyone who has been through a major World of Warcraft patch before knows that this means instability, numerous server restarts and mini-patches, and broken add-ons for several days. For add-ons, it can be even longer, depending on how complex the changes are, and if the add-on developers are still maintaining their products. In this…

Icesnake’s Add-on Emporium #34: Death Knights
Segment 34: Add-ons for Death Knights
NOTE: I have not had the opportunity to test these add-ons with 4.0.1 and would appreciate comments from those who have tested them.
In this segment we’ll look at add-ons meant strictly for Death Knights. As you might imagine, most of them are for management of runes and diseases. Since those all perform pretty much the same function, my advice is to try them – one at…

World Event: Will You Be Lucky Enough To Have Deathwing Kill You?
During the Quests and Lore panel at BlizzCon we heard that, “If you see Deathwing he will kill you”. It looks like that will hold true with information regarding the Cataclysm world event that was recently announced in a blue post. And let me just say, I am incredibly excited for this.
I am still holding to my hopes that there are some interactive events leading up to Cataclysm along with The Shattering, but…

Arcane Mage Glyphs since Patch 4.0.1
I originally wrote my article about Arcane Mage spec and glyphs for patch 4.0.1 right as the patch was coming out and used play time in the the Cataclysm Beta as well as sites like Wowtal.com for reference.
Unfortunately since then Patch 4.0.1 went live and Mage glyphs are a complete and utter mess in the live game. Therefore I decided to go back and revisit glyphing specifically for Arcane Mages and…

Protection Paladin Spec (Updated for Cataclysm)
For the Prot Paladin there are a couple things to keep in mind. Some of our new talents like Judgements of the Just and Reckoning are better suited for single-target tanking.
While Hallowed Ground is a talent that a tank who will be doing more AoE tanking should have.
Also there are Major Glyphs that you can swap back and forth between trash and bosses such as:

Fury Warrior 4.0.1 Guide – Unleash the Meat Cleaver
[View This Fury Warrior Talent Build]
Rotations
With the inception of patch 4.0.1, I have come to love the fury warrior. The rotation is more complex, and one can unleash some very solid DPS without being armor pen capped (since it no longer exists). A few things of note right away… you will have a different rotation for single target and multi-target (e.g. trash).
The way things are working right now, the highest single…

This Guild Master Likes the 4.0.1 Guild Controls
Like most other Guild Masters in World of Warcraft, I have been frustrated by the lack of features we had been given to control our guilds. This is something I had lamented previously on the WoWphiles Podcast because the previous system didn’t offer much needed features like reorganizing guild ranks.
Patch 4.0.1 has brought us increased functionality for Guild Masters, which Blizzard no doubt realized would be necessary due to the increased importance being placed…

Icesnake’s Add-on Emporium, Segment #15: GoGoMount and GoGoPet
Edited for Patch 4.0.1
If you have have made any effort at all to learn about the World of Warcraft achievement system, you are probably aware that there is an achievement for obtaining fifty mounts. There’s another for one hundred mounts. There are also achievements for fifteen pets and for fifty pets. Breanni has even created a guide to the vanity pet achievements over at WarcraftPets.com
But how do you…

Resto Shaman Spec for Patch 4.0.1
I’m continuing my series of class spec guides, following my Protection Paladin and Arcane Mage posts, with the Restoration Shaman. Resto Shaman was my first main in World of Warcraft so I decided to give them back some love.
My colleague and Podcast Co-Host Modem might disagree with some of my selections here–especially since he has been playing a Resto Shaman full time–but this is the build that I would personally go…

Arcane Mage Spec for Patch 4.0.1
Since I consider Mage to be my number one alt and one of my favorite classes to play, I decided to follow up my Protection Paladin 4.0.1 post with an Arcane Mage blog post.
Currently, I raid as an Arcane Mage which has proven to most the most widely used PvE spec during Wrath of the Lich King. This guide will help you to maintain your Arcane spec while simply updating it for patch…

Fanfiction Friday: Heartbeats
On a recent episode of the Wowphiles podcast, I had the chance to discuss one of the many things I appreciate about Azeroth, and that is the art and fan-fiction communities. Warcraft is so full of characters who have stories that want to be told. Unfortunately (due to the limited time, money, patience… etc) these stories will never be heard. Often times fans will invent more to the story, filling up spaces

Patch 4.0.1: A Great Time To Reinvent Your UI
It’s very possible that Patch 4.0.1 may be going live for World of Warcraft players as soon as October 12. With the patch right around the corner I started thinking about my UI and how major patches tend to completely break it. So this seems to be an optimal time to consider making a complete overhaul to my user interface.
My UI has changed over the years but there are still some aspects of…

Guilds to Have a Hardcap of 600 Members
That’s right. Posted just minutes ago. Guilds will not be allowed to invite members after 600. Guilds with current memberships higher than that will still be intact but will not be able to invite new members until they drop themselves below 600.
Let the fallout begin. If you’re a part of a large guild, it’s about to get scary for you.
Here is the full post from Mumper:
“We will be introducing a new,

Looks like I was right about December 7th Cataclysm Release Date Afterall
Reports are swirling around the internet about the December 7 release date is now being formally announced by Blizzard as the official release date for Cataclysm.
Normally, I don’t like to toot my own horn, well maybe sometimes, but I try not to make a habit of it. Anyway, I looked at the calendar and followed my instincts, which led me to believe that December 7 would be the release date.…

Icesnake’s Add-on Emporium #33: Add-ons by Class
Segment 33: Essentials for all classes
Starting this week, we’re going to go over the “bare essential” add-ons for each class.
Now, let’s look at what every class should have, in no special order:
- An inventory management add-on. I prefer ArkInventory.
- Carbonite. Carbonite is the essential all-in-one add-on that provides so many different functions that the only toon you won’t need it for is your banker. If you play on a
