Fanfiction Friday: Heartbeats
On a recent episode of the Wowphiles podcast, I had the chance to discuss one of the many things I appreciate about Azeroth, and that is the art and fan-fiction communities. Warcraft is so full of characters who have stories that want to be told. Unfortunately (due to the limited time, money, patience… etc) these stories will never be heard. Often times fans will invent more to the story, filling up spaces with narrative that the lore team will never have the time to do on their own. This being said, the Wowphiles want to highlight some of the best fanfiction this side of the loading screen.
Heartbeats by Kitten Kisses on Fanfiction.net is a wonderful vignette of the everyday through the lens of eternity. Time passes, people change, and no matter what happens these shifts are consistent. But what this fiction highlights how it is in the little things that people try to maintain what was, whether it is a comfortable memory or buried child-like innocence. It’s not exclusively a Warcraft concept, but this fiction is more about these ideas but using NPCs that most [Alliance] should be familiar with.
Arguably one of my favorite works on Fanfiction.net, let alone for Warcraft. Enriching the otherwise static avenues of Stormwind asking the silent question of where the city will be after the conflict is over, or if it ever will be.
