    Warcraft Cataclysm Shattering World Event

We are starting to get some more information regarding The Shattering event that is going to rock Azeroth. Unfortunately we don’t have any specific date but it has to be very soon.

As of this coming Tuesday we will be 5 weeks away from the release of Cataclysm. Blizzard is going to want to give us enough time to experience The Shattering before the Cataclysm release. In my estimation 3 weeks would be the minimum amount of time that we should have.

That would put the start of The Shattering at November 16. I think that date is a reasonable guess as to when we can see the event go live. Originally I thought we would have a month of The Shattering prior to Cataclysm which would put us at November 9. Either way I would expect that we will see this event go live one of those two dates.

The first thing that I find interesting about what Zarhym said in his blue post is that we should stick to our mains for a few weeks and not bother with alts.

Be patient! If you’re really hoping to roll brand new characters once the shattering of Azeroth takes place, I’d strongly recommend just waiting. You’ll get a sense soon enough for how events will unfold from now until December 7. I suggest you stick to your main characters for now. Very soon the pre-Cataclysm events will begin and they’ll continually ramp up in severity and things to do over time, leading up to the shattering (patch 4.0.3a). You’re going to want to participate in these events, as they’ll only be around for a short time and will not return once Deathwing is unleashed.

If you are wondering what is the difference between patch 4.0.3 and patch 4.0.3a is then you will be interested in this:

Patch 4.0.3 will implement virtually all of the content necessary to make the changes to Azeroth, but those changes will actually take place in patch 4.0.3a, which is scheduled to be released shortly after patch 4.0.3.

Confused about when exactly Deathwing is going to start wreaking havoc on the land?

Deathwing emerges with the shattering, it just happens before the release of the expansion. In a nutshell, the December 7 release will unlock the two new races, new 80-85 content, level cap increase, and the Flight Master’s License to fly in Azeroth.

So as soon as the shattering happens (before December 7), Deathwing will take to the skies as laid out here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=27387876560&sid=1

So are you getting as excited as I am for this? Having recently read the book The Shattering I am interested to see how it actually plays out in game. It looks to be pretty amazing.
