Account Security Warning

[Mar 31, 2011 | No Comment] by: Icesnake Frostfyre

This morning, as is my usual habit, I tried to log into WoW from the computer in our library at home. Instead of the normal “Authentication Successful” message, a larger splash screen popped up, telling me that my account had been locked due to a detected “change in play pattern.” Now, my pattern is highly predictable. I normally play on the computer in my home library mornings and evenings, on my office work computer at …

What in the WoW is Going On?

[Mar 15, 2011 | 18 Comments] by: Jacob "Modem"

Those of you who listen to the podcast know all about my deep concern for the state of the game, but today my concern has reached a whole new level. Lately, I’ve been seeing great and dedicated players and friends quit the game left and right (5 of my good friends have quit the game and from what I’ve been hearing it seems like more are following), an overload of negative comments on the blogosphere …

Not enough mailboxes in Iron Forge

[Dec 5, 2009 | 7 Comments] by: Jason Zimmerman

Is it me or is it almost impossible to find a handy mailbox in Ironforge? I mean in Stormwind boxes are only a stones throw from each other and in ideal places(outside the AH and bank…and everywhere else). In Dalaran boxes are on most every corner. But in Ironforge there is only one that I use all the time….the one outside the bank. Blizzard at least put one outside the AH!…

One Game Man

[Nov 30, 2009 | 6 Comments] by: Honors Code

So Gravity over at pwnwear asked a question in his blog, and I’d like to address it here. He wrote a post about whether or not you play games other than WoW.I wondered, how unusual am I? The best comparison would be to others in my circumstance: marrie…

Microtransactions: Final Thoughts

[Nov 16, 2009 | No Comment] by: Jason Griffith

The purchasable minipets continue to cause a storm across the blogosphere. I’ve already mentioned them here and here, but rather than offer another analysis on the Pandaren Monk as I did with Lil’ K.T. I’m just going to offer one finally post on it and then I’m leaving these two alone.
I don’t care what [...]

Solve the Avoidance Problem, Eliminate Tank Gear

[Nov 2, 2009 | 3 Comments] by: Honors Code

I got this idea after reading Blessing of Kings excellent post on Chill of the Throne (aka Icewell Radiance).Basically the best way for Blizzard to address the high avoidance problem is to remove Plate Tank gear in the next expansion, and put all Tanks…

Guest Post: On Race Changes…

[Oct 20, 2009 | No Comment] by: Jason Zimmerman

Greetings all! This is Derevka from Tales of a Priest. Yes I did close the doors at Tales, (mainly due to work being much more demanding of my time during the day, and our firewall at work now blocking blogger access) but I mentioned that I do miss blogging a bit, so Seri asked me [...]

Warcraft Movie: Rise of the Lich King

[Oct 13, 2009 | No Comment] by: Jason Zimmerman

I can’t say that I’m surprised to see that the World of Warcraft movie will focus on the Rise of the Lich King. I made this prediction a few months ago, and even though I was scoffed at by a few people I mentioned it to, I knew that this would be the obvious direction for the movie to go.

Cataclysmic Hopes

[Oct 5, 2009 | No Comment] by: Honors Code

There was a thread on Maintankadin asking about what people’s hopes were for Cataclysm. I started writing a response there and I quickly saw it wasn’t going to fit, so I made it a blog entry. The developers did a fantastic job with Wrath of the Lich…

Rusted Proto Drake? I’ll Pass

[Sep 1, 2009 | 4 Comments] by: Honors Code

The dilemma I’m faced with today is how to speak about an activity, but not come across as passing judgment on those who choose to participate in it. Let’s see if I can accomplish that. The activity I’m talking about is the selling of Proto Drakes. Cert…

My guild leader took the announcement of the new expansion to make a major announcement of his own.I know it’s still early and the xpac will not be out for awhile but it’s safe to assume that we will be switching to Horde for it. With this in mind I wa…

Jov sez: Why I’m looking forward to faction-transfers.

[Jul 28, 2009 | No Comment] by: Jason Zimmerman

While I don’t  have as strong a case of alt-itis as Seri, I have been known to…  dabble… in character creation.  Okay, I’m addicted to it, and stubbornly roll healing class after healing class after healing class.  And don’t get me wrong, I don’t play most of the characters I roll.  Nothing against them, but [...]

Seri sez: So, about that new Tier 9 gear…

[Jul 9, 2009 | No Comment] by: Jason Zimmerman

Am I the only one that has been underwhelmed by the tier sets in this expansion? It kind of makes me long for the days when druids wore shrubberies on their shoulders and antlers on their heads. Granted, as a Rogue I get to wear shoulders with a quick-flick tentacle animation… it’s so cool it [...]

Seri sez: Transfer or Treason? You decide.

[Jul 2, 2009 | No Comment] by: Jason Zimmerman

It’s been a busy news week in Azeroth, with all the patch information coming from the PTR. However, perhaps the most interesting bit of news so far has nothing to do with the patch. On Monday, one of the CMs broke the news that Blizzard is working on a paid faction change service.
That’s right… at [...]

Faction transfers announced: Thoughts and opinions

[Jun 30, 2009 | 6 Comments] by: Jason Zimmerman

Blizzard shocked the World of Warcraft community yesterday with this announcement:

We wanted to give everyone a very early heads-up that, in response to player requests, we’re developing a new service for World of Warcraft that will allow players to change their faction from Alliance to Horde or Horde to Alliance. There’s still much work to do and many details to iron out, but the basic idea is that players will be able to use

Seri sez: Wowhead Profiler — Yet another Armory tool?

[Jun 26, 2009 | No Comment] by: Jason Zimmerman

The folks over at Wowhead launched their new character profiler tool, Wowhead Profiler, yesterday. According to the announcement in their blog, it has been under development for over 2 years and they’re extremely excited about it. I can’t say my initial enthusiasm was matched… do we really need yet another caching tool? Nonetheless, it’s from [...]

Seri sez: Celebrating Diversity, Snarkcraft-style.

[Jun 25, 2009 | No Comment] by: Jason Zimmerman

With Jov out of town for the week, Seri is once again bereft of an outlet for her random musings, as well as a not insignificant source of daily entertainment. Well, when the cat’s away the mice will play…
Here at World of Snarkcraft we embrace diversity and recognize that no two raiders are alike but [...]

When DPS Goes Tank

[Jun 11, 2009 | No Comment] by: Jason Zimmerman

I’ve always played a DPS, ranged to start, melee currently.  With the introduction of dual spec in the most recent content patch, I went ahead and equipped Jaltar with dual spec so I could experiment with tanking.  When in a pinch, it would be nice to have the option to off tank, or tank a [...]

Are most Ulduar raid guides lacking?

[Jun 9, 2009 | No Comment] by: Jason Zimmerman

My raid group has been doing Ulduar for a few weeks now and we are starting to progress into bosses we haven’t done before. We are review strategies from WoWWiki and Strat Fu, as well as watching the TankSpot videos. But even after all this preparation it seems like there are facets of the encounters that these guides are missing.
